The gods of Tellaria don’t typically intervene directly in the affairs of most mortals; instead, at best they provide indirect guidance to their followers (e.g., vague dreams or prophetic visions). However, plenty of religions exist in the world, and plenty of people claim to have a more direct, personal connection with the gods. Heroes who make their mark and advance causes related to Order or Chaos, however, may attract more direct attention from the gods of these pantheons.
There are a few gods who have smaller “mystery cults”—secretive or closed religious groups with initiation procedures for allowing new members to learn the theology of the sect. These gods have eschewed the divide between Order and Chaos, and are typically more deeply invested in the day-to-day concerns of mortals. They tend to have a more personal, intimate connection with their acolytes.
Various cultures also have other forms of religion, including animism (spirits inhabiting the natural world) or dualism (adherence to more impersonal opposing principles like Good and Evil, Order and Chaos, Matter and Spirit, with less focus on deities). Feel free to invent something that suits your character.
The names below are the Ershadi names for the gods. The Ershadi Empire had a broad influence on much of the world, so these gods are known all over, but many cultures have their own deities they revere. I haven’t worked this out for other cultures, so feel free to make something up. Some names might overlap or have similarity across multiple cultures, and others might be wholly different.
Characters who are of the Cleric class may choose to serve one god in particular; the cleric domains that each god represents are shown in parentheses. However, you may also choose to serve a church or religious organization instead.
These gods are involved with the world of mortals, and acolytes of these gods tend to share a deep, personal connection with their god, and have elaborate, secretive rituals to show their devotion.
These gods are not actively associated with either Order or Chaos, and they are known by the same names across multiple cultures.
